My Three Arguments

1) Without the trees the erosion could have worsened. The ground cover would of caused the the regions temperature to go up as much as 6 degrees.This website agrees with me on that: http://science.nasa.gov/science-news/science-at-nasa/2004/15nov_maya/

2) I think it was a good idea to use the underground x-rays because they were able to find things that had never been found. They found unknown kings in their tomb and found tunnels.
